2009 Certified Audubon Golf Course

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Course is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf.  By helping people enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf operations, the program serves as vital resource for golf courses.

PhillipsParkMap300.gifPhillips Park is a 300 acre park on the far east side of Aurora.  The course was redesigned by Greg Martin, who was born and raised in Aurora, and offically opened to the public on Saturday, July 14th, 2001.  The 18-hole course now boasts modern features like the "USGA" Greens, a computerized irrigation system, multiple tees, larger greens, better overall drainage systems, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, continuous cart paths, and a new clubhouse, as well as a three-hole junior course, resulting in a quality championship caliber golf course.

In 2005, lights were added to the practice facility as an added amenity to capture those golfers who want to practice their game in the evening hours.  The newly lighted practice facility has both "All Weather Teeing Surface" for inclement weather and a massive grass tee.

With three sets of tees, the golf course ranges from 4,760 yards to 6,200 yards, providing a wide range of challenge for varying abilities.  The 18-hole layout consists of two distinct nines.  The front nine is a links style layout with wide open fairways, but strategically positioned with fairway and greenside bunkers.  The back nine is the original hilly nine.  Tree lined fairways and strategically placed bunker guarding the greens make the back nine at Phillips Park the most challenging.
